Mother of ‘Pastillas Girl’ shot dead in Caloocan

(Updated 9:29 a.m.) Maria Theresa Hernandez, mother of online personality Angelica Jane Yap a.k.a. Pastillas Girl, was shot and killed Sunday evening in Caloocan City, a report on Unang Balita on Monday said.

Hernandez was shot at close range by a gunman wearing a cap, jacket and shorts at the corner of Tagaytay Street and Cabatuan Street in Brgy. 131 in Caloocan City.

The 43-year-old barangay kagawad Hernandez and two companions had just come from church, and were waiting for another companion at an eatery when the incident happened at past 9 p.m.

Prior to the shooting, the man was seen via CCTV walking near Hernandez who was in a white shirt. After five minutes, he fired the shot, hitting the right side of Hernandez's head.

The suspect quickly fled toward A. Bonifacio St. in Caloocan aboard a motorcycle.

According to Herman Domingo, owner of the eatery, before the suspect bought something inside his shop, he even said, "Ang ganda ni Ate. Pwedeng maging artista."

Yap was taken to the Chinese General Hospital, but the medical staff was unable to save her.

Meanwhile, police investigators recovered 9mm shells from the crime scene. They are conducting an investigation and are on the manhunt for the suspect.

Hernandez's daughter Yap is hoping for justice to be served.
